CHARITY

Devoting part of my time and of my money to charity is crucial to me. I've already taken part in several fundraisings and projects for various causes. But the very one cause that is dear to me is the fight against cancer. Both my parents had to fight cancer. One of my close childhood friend got cancer too. Many people around me, whether they're family or friends, suffered from cancer. Some survived. Some died. In both case, it deeply touched me. I started supporting charities against cancer a few years ago and I will continue the battle.

This is an amazing general cancer charity. They often organize big events with many celebrities, which I think is wonderful because it helps to spread the word about the cause. I give them money regularly and also launched my own star (you can name a star in honor of a loved one who had cancer in their fictive constellation - it's a lovely thing to do). If you want to donate money to them, go here. They also have a pretty kick-ass shop - good compromise: you get clothes/accessories and give money to charity at the same time! You can also launch your own star, like I did.

This charity focuses on childhood cancer. The story behind this association is amazing: Alex, a young girl was diagnosed with cancer at age 1. One day after her 4th birthday, she decided to hold a lemonade stand to raise money for her hospital in order to help children with the same disease as her. She reaised $2,000. By the time she passed away, at age 8, she and the people supporting her cause had raised over $1,000,000. Alex's act of bravery and selflessness should always be remembered. I've given money several times to this charity because the idea of kids having to deal with such a disease at such a young age kills me. As soon as I read the story behind the charity, I knew it was the right charity for me to support. If you want to donate money to Alex's Lemonade, go here. You can also hold lemonade stands or take part to one.

Those are the two charities that I decided to support actively. But any charity fighting cancer is wonderful and I thank everyone who gives time or money to the cause. There is no small problem. There is no small cause. Just find the cause and the charity that touch you deep inside. You can support the two that I've listed. You can support another. You can come back later to see if I added a new charity. You sure should share with me your experience or favorite charities if you have one. And if you've actually read all the text above, I thank you because this is a good start ;)
